Adela Foo is a PhD candidate in the History of Art department at Yale University. She works on the material culture of the Aq Qoyunlu Turkmen confederation. She received her MA in the History of Art of the Islamic Middle East from the SOAS and her BA in Middle Eastern Studies and Classics from Bard College. She is a recipient of the 2023-2024 Fulbright Student Grant.

This project investigates the arms and armor produced for the Aq Qoyunlu Turkmen Confederations from the reign of Uzun Hasan to the end of his son and successor, Sultan Yaqub (1467-1490). In broad strokes, it will be examined the relationships between poetry, clothing, self-fashioning and the occult.
