Arter Library is a shared space that provides reference books on art, a collection of books constantly updated in line with the exhibitions and events programmes, magazines, and access to electronic databases.
The library also provides access to the complete runs of several important international magazines that are no longer published in print or have ceased publication altogether. These include Avalanche, Cabinet, MusikTexte, and Parkett.
Avalanche was a groundbreaking art magazine published in New York between 1970 and 1976, playing a pivotal role in the avant-garde art scene of its time. It ceased publication in 1976.
Cabinet Magazine is an award-winning art and culture magazine based in New York, founded in 2000 by the non-profit organization Immaterial Incorporated. It is known for its in-depth exploration of topics across a wide range of fields, including art, culture, philosophy, science, and history.
In 2022, the magazine discontinued its print edition and transitioned to a fully digital format.
MusikTexte is a specialized magazine dedicated to new (contemporary) music. It is known for offering in-depth analyses, articles, and profiles on contemporary composers and their works. First published in 1983, the magazine ceased publication in 2022.
Parkett is a world-renowned contemporary art publication founded in 1984 in Zurich and New York. Its print edition came to an end with its 101st issue in 2017.
